Died Nov. 30, 2007

MANHATTAN, N.Y. -- Elizabeth Herring Brown, formerly of Mount Olive, N.C., passed away in New York last Friday. She was the daughter of the late Jurney and Ethel Mae Bowden Herring of Mount Olive, N.C., and the widow of the late Rev. Ulysses Brown. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Kenneth Herring and two sisters, Vera Eldridge and Lucille Herring.

A homecoming celebration was held on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at The Greater Allen Cathedral A.M.E. Church in Jamaica, N.Y., with the Rev. Cornell Phillips officiating.

She faithfully served as First Lady to several churches pastored by her late husband in New York. Her passion was working with youth and her love for God was apparent through out her Christian life.

She had a warm, gentle and calm demeanor and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted sister and caregiver, Marilyn Herring Huggins of Cambria Heights, N.Y.; a niece, Deborah Milner and husband, Harry, of Mount Olive, N.C.; three nephews, Oscar Eldridge Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa., Steven Herring of Sewell, N.J., and Kenneth A. Jenkins of Belhaven, N.C.; along with a host of great-nieces and nephews, special cousins, other relatives and friends.

Graveside service and interment will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Kornegay Family Memorial Gardens, Indian Springs Road, Mount Olive, N.C.

Arrangements are by McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries of Goldsboro.
