Died Jan. 15, 2007

GREENVILLE -- Edward Earl Gore, 70, died Jan. 15, 2007, at Golden Years Retirement Center, Greenville.

He was a native of Wayne County, 1955 graduate of Dillard High School, served two tours in the Vietnam War while enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, former marathon runner and employee of the Delaware State Prison and lifelong member of the Masons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise Williams and Johnnie Boddie; two brothers, Excel Gore and William Kornegay; one sister, Julia Ann Kornegay Collins and a son, Derrick Armstrong.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, McIntyre Funeral Home Chapel, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro with Apostle D. L. McIntyre officiating. Burial will be private.

He is survived by three daughters, Linda G. Hammond of Greenville, Kim G. Knight of Tarboro, Cynthia Armstrong Freeman of Dover, Del.; one son, Vincent Armstrong of Dover, Del.; two brothers, James Bubba Gore of Waterbury, Conn., Richard Earl Best of Greenville; one sister, Wilma Summers of Jersey City, N.J.; six grandchildren.
