JACOB L. 'BUTCH' WHITESELL

BURLINGTON -- Jacob Lynn "Butch" Whitesell, 61, 2520 Ferndale Drive, died at his residence Friday following several years of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Janice Cheek Whitesell, who survives, and the son of the late Jacob Caleb Whitesell and Christine Isley Whitesell, who also survive. He was the owner of Whitesell Draperies and a member of St. Mark's Reformed Church, the Alamance Rotary Club and the Alamance Country Club.
Other survivors include one daughter, Janie Covington and her husband, Nelson, of Wilson; two grandchildren; two sisters, Beverly W. Brown and her husband, Joel, of Burlington and Beth W. Cook and her husband, John, of Mebane; and three brothers, Bob Whitesell and his wife, Bonnie, of Goldsboro, Bill Whitesell and his wife, Sandy, of Atlanta, Ga., and Barry Whitesell of Charlotte.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at St. Mark's Reformed Church, with the Rev. Ben Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mark's Reformed Church Cemetery.
The body will be taken to the church to lie in state from 1:30 to 2 p.m.
The family received friends at the Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
