CLARENCE J. SIMMONS
August 3, 1936-April 12, 2006
Clarence James Simmons, 69, of 1668 Tommy's Road died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Saint Mark Disciples of Christ Church. Bishop Alton Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Simmons was born in Brooks County, Ga. on August 3, 1936 to the late Charlie Simmons Sr. and Corean Simmons. He was retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant after 26 years of service. Mr. Simmons was a founding member of the Blazing Star Lodge where he was Worshipful Master. He was a retired Security Guard from Wayne Community College.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Simmons; son, Andree Simmons and his wife, Lisa, of Goldsboro; daughter Teresa Simmons Gerald and her husband, Maurice, of Goldsboro; brothers, Charlie Simmons Jr. of Quitman, Ga. and Robert Simmons of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Claudia Williams of Quitman, Ga., Alma Golden and her husband, Henry, of Philadelphia, Pa. and Snow Ollie Moore and her husband, Henry, of Quitman, Ga.; five grandchildren, Jasmine, Kayla, Miranda, Monique and Avery Jaxsun "A.J"; and aunt, Rosa Lee Simmons of Quitman, Ga.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory with the family present from 6-7 p.m. The family will receive friends other times at the residence.
