The funeral for Deacon Spergeon Thompson will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at St. John United Holy Church, Snow Hill. Pastor Michael Artis will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Deacon Thompson is survived by his wife, Mary Thompson of the home; three sons; Donnie Thompson, Capt. Brady Thompson, and Spergeon Thompson Jr. of Goldsboro; one daughter, Della LeSene of Goldsboro; one brother, Amos Thompson of Jamaica, N.Y.; four sisters, Adlene Holmes of Goldsboro, Catherine Breland of New Jersey, Jeanette Lee of Georgia and Dorothy Artis of New York; and 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by another brother, Eddie Leak.

The viewing hours will be from 1 until 7 p.m. on Saturday at McIntyre Funeral Home, and the family will be present from 6 until 7 to receive friends.
