Johnnie Williams Summerlin, 80, of 2100 Pineview Cemetery Road, Seven Springs, died Sunday morning at Lenoir County Memorial Hospital in Kinston.
She was the daughter of the late Jesse Paul and Emma Edwards Williams and was the widow of Carlie James Summerlin. She was a retired farmer and homemaker and was a member of Grant's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, where she held many positions through the years, and was a former member of the Seven Springs Area Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid gardener of both vegetables and flowers, which she shared generously with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, She was preceded in death by a brother, James Herbert "Buck" Williams; a sister, Olive Williams Jones; an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Price; and a nephew, Haywood Hardy.
She is survived by two brothers, Grover Williams of Seven Springs, and Donald Williams and his wife, Ruby of Seven Springs; three sisters, Sallie W. Hardy of Mount Olive, Esther W. Hardy of Norfolk, Va., and Dora W. Beavers of Seven Springs.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Miller and the Rev. Mickey Whitfield officiating. Committal and burial will be at 11 am on Wednesday at Pineview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service on Tuesday night, and other times at the residence.
