GEORGE HASTY
June 6, 1935-July 24, 2005
George Leard Hasty, 70, died Sunday at the Durham Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Mr. Hasty was a native of Asheboro and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. He spent time at Lackland A.F.B. in Texas as a training instructor, was stationed in Smyrna, Tenn., where he worked in air traffic control, and served in Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Leard Hasty.
He is survived by three daughters, Lynn Wilson of Hillsborough, Andee Boyd of Goldsboro and Victoria Newby of Asheboro; one son, George L. Hasty Jr. of Utah, his mother and stepfather, Mattie Tucker Flowers and John Flowers of Asheboro; two brothers, John V. Flowers and Charles Flowers of Asheboro; and nine grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday at noon at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
