LYNN E. BARBER JR.
Lynn Eugene Barber Jr, 81, of 4931 Wayne Memorial Drive, died Friday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A homegoing service will be held today (Sunday) at 6 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. The Rev. Ira Williford will officiate. A graveside service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Barber was born in Lenoir County on July 26, 1923, to the late Lynn Eugene Barber Sr. and Bessie Ellen Long Barber. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was a retired farmer and was a charter member of United In Christ Church. He taught the adult Sunday school class at Clingman Street Church of God for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Margaret Hughes Barber; one son, Lynn Russell Barber and wife, Pam, of Greenville; two daughters, Sharon Dentzer of Goldsboro and fiancé, Willie Mozingo, and Beverly Phillips and husband, Greg, of Dalton, Georgia; one brother, Earl Barber and wife, Nita, of Crossville, Tennessee; one sister, Mildred Smith of Goldsboro; six grandchildren, Shannon, Keri, and Adam Phillips, Coral and Abbey Barber, and Hunter Dentzer; and one great-grandson, Cole Phillips.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Barber may be directed to United In Christ Church, 1314 Patetown Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
The family will receive friends following the service on Sunday evening at Howell Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
