GEORGE BOLLIN JR.

PIKEVILLE -- George W. Bollin Jr., 84, of 779 Big Daddy's Road, died Friday morning at the Veterans Administrative Hospital in Fayetteville.

Funeral services will be held Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. at The Howell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Rudolph Rose officiating. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery.

He was born in Johnson County, Kansas. Mr. Bollin was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pikeville. He was a veteran of the United States Navy for over 10 years, a prisoner of war for 40 months in a Japanese prison during World War II, and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans and the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ethel Bollin, and two grandchildren.

Mr. Bollin is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Bollin; three sons, Dennis Bollin of Spring Hill, Kan., George D. Bollin of Goldsboro, and Paul W. Bollin of Pikeville; one daughter, Linda Marie Murphy of Cato, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends following the service Monday evening at Howell Funeral Home.
