ELSIE L. DAIL
Elsie L. Dail, 96, of the Meadows of Mount Olive, formerly of Baker Chapel Church Road, died Tuesday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mount Olive Presbyterian Church, 105 North Breazeale Ave. The Rev. Steven Wicks will officiate. Burial will follow at the Martin-Price Cemetery in Mount Olive.
Mrs. Dail was born in Aurora, N.C., on Sept. 20, 1907, to the late George Washington and Sarah Walker Lee. She was a graduate of Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Winston-Salem and worked for many years in private practice and as a registered nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Baker Presbyterian Church in Mount Olive, where she received the Lifetime Membership of the Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the Wayne County Home Demonstration Club. Her hobbies included painting and outdoor gardening.
She is survived by two sons, J. Clark Dail and wife, Lynn, of Mount Olive; Harvey J. Dail Jr. and wife, Sandra, of New Bern; a daughter, Sarah Dail Varner and husband, Michael, of Boone; five grandchildren, Kim Wynn, Lori Olive, Taylor Dail, Tracy Teal and Jason Dail; and four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Jordan Dail; one brother; two sisters; and one grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. on Thursday, one hour prior to funeral.
