ROBERT PEARCE
U.S. Army Retired Sergeant First Class Robert William "Bob" Pearce, 79, of Cashwell Drive, died Thursday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral was to be held today at 2 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Harvin officiating. Burial, with full military honors, was to be in Evergreen Memorial Ceme-tery.
Mr. Pearce was born in Indiana on Feb. 26, 1925, to the late George and Myrtle Temple Pearce. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired from service in 1963. He was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis of Goldsboro and St. Luke United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the choir, the Golden Heirs, the Methodist Men, and served as Sunday school class president.
He is survived by his wife, Jenny Pearce; two sons, Wayne Pearce and Jimmy Pearce of Greenville; two daughters, Connie Bond and husband Chuck of Georgetown, Kentucky and Lois Ann Stevenson of Greenville; one step-daughter, Kris Owens and husband Marty of Carthage; three brothers, Dennie Conrad of Albion, Indiana, Butch Conrad of Syracuse, Indiana and Bill Conrad of South Bend, Indiana; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his previous wife of 30 years, Rose Marie Pearce; and a brother, Kenneth Winters.
The family will received friends Sunday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro and other times at the residence.
