It's not just a new design.

The Goldsboro News-Argus' new website offers much more than a different look.

Still found at newsargus.com, the new site is offering better access to more photography, stories and video from the newspaper staff and the community.

It officially launches at 11 a.m. today.

First, all the content is easier to find on the new site. On the main navigation bar, news and sports hold their familiar positions, but the new Community section has an updated Community Calendar, Church News, Features, Letters to the Editor, Lifestyle Calendar Items, Local Columnists, News Calendar Items and the Sports "What's Happening" feature.

An addition to the new site is a special HomeFinder section, which offers residential real estate listings from all points of Wayne County, as well as commercial and land listings. This section will serve as an excellent tool for real estate professionals seeking to reach out to clients and for people looking for the right home. It also can be found on the main navigation bar.

Continuing on, Editorials, Obituaries and Galleries with photos and video can be found on the navigation bar, along with a new feature: Announcements, where you will find anniversaries, births, engagements and weddings. Readers also will discover a newly formatted eEdition, Classifieds and a big list of all the News-Argus special editions in Special Sections.

Finally, "Marketplace," a section showcasing local businesses, is an exciting addition to the site.

Reading is more comfortable as users will find that the website's layout will adjust to meet their varying screen sizes. Also new to the site, readers can narrow a search to a specific date range. These are just some of the improvements. We hope that you will spend some time getting to know the new site and offer us some feedback as you do.

A significant change is the subscriptions system. Before, readers had to have a subscription to read the full text of any of our stories. We will now allow people to read up to 10 stories a month before being asked to subscribe. This new "paywall" will be turned on at a later date, giving everyone a chance to get used to the new site before we ask folks to log in again.

Setting up a new online-only subscription will be quick and easy by going to the top of the new website and clicking the link "Subscribe."

For the safety and privacy of existing print and online-only subscribers who had logins to the old site, subscriptions will have to be re-linked with an email address to use as a login. Creating a new password with the "Registration & Subscription Verification" link will also be at the top of the new website.

There is a lot to see, and we look forward to people taking the time to get acquainted with the new site. Our goal, as always, is to be the best source of news and information for the people of Wayne County.
