A man's car was hit by bullets during a road-rage confrontation involving guns in the middle of Pecan Road Tuesday.
A report filed with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said someone began tailgating the 53-year-old male victim down Old Mount Olive Highway after the man had passed the suspect on U.S. 117 South.
The victim made a left onto Pecan Road, and the suspect continued to follow the man.
He stopped off in Genoa Mart, but so did the suspect, and so the man got back on Pecan Road and tried to lose him.
The victim then stopped in the middle of Pecan Road and both the man and the suspect got out of their cars.
The suspect got out of the passenger side of the car and pulled a gun on the man.
The victim then pulled a gun in return.
According to the report, the suspect got back in the car, started to drive off and shot at the man's car.
The bullets struck the victim's back right rear door and window.
The victim then went back to Genoa Mart and stayed there until law enforcement arrived.
Sheriff's deputies were able to recover a bullet from the rear of the victim's car.
The victim gave officers a statement, but there is no suspect description listed on the report.
