A 32-year-old Wayne County woman is facing drug charges after sheriff's deputies allegedly found methamphetamine in her possession Saturday.

Nicole Marie Rugkit, of 1000 Saint John's Church Road, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team was conducting a traffic checkpoint on Saint John's Church Road Saturday,

Rugkit reportedly rode up to the checkpoint inside a Chevrolet Impala that had an expired registration.

Deputies told the driver of the car to pull off to the side of the road for further investigation, a press release said.

The release said deputies got consent to search the Impala from the vehicle's registered owner while they checked out the expired registration of the car.

There were four people in the car and deputies got consent to search three of them, including Rugkit.

The release said they found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia on Rugkit.

She was arrested and put in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $1,500 secured bond.
