Wayne County residents will have their day Thursday punctuated by jet noise and other military clamor as Seymour Johnson Air Force Base conducts an operational readiness exercise.
The base announced in a press release Wednesday morning that the planned exercise will begin early Thursday morning and end in the evening.
Residents can expect increased aircraft activity with longer flying hours, more noise and possibly traffic congestion on and near the base.
The press release said people should be aware that the base will be operating under increased force protection conditions, causing possible gate closures or delays, and need to prepare accordingly.
