A Goldsboro man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a child in the presence of other children.
Jammie Eugene Creekmore, 32, of 408 S. William St., was arrested Jan. 5 and is charged with felonious child abuse and three counts of assault in the presence of a child.
Sgt. Bryant Canady said the child -- whose age is not being released -- suffered "severe" injuries from the incident, which he said happened at Creekmore's home.
A press release said the Goldsboro Police Department received a phone call at about 11:02 p.m. on Dec. 26, 2017, from the Morehead City Police Department.
Authorities with the agency told officers a juvenile has arrived at Carteret Health Care facility seeking treatment after a relative discovered injuries the child had.
The Department of Social Services determined the injuries were the result of an assault.
Canady, who is with the Goldsboro Police Department's Investigative Services Bureau, said police are not releasing the actual date of the assault, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
An investigation by the Goldsboro Police Department led to the development of Creekmore as a suspect.
Creekmore was jailed under a $250,000 secured bond for the charges.
