Man charged for possession of a stolen firearm

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office says a Georgia man was in possession of a firearm stolen out of the same state when a car he was in was stopped on U.S. 70 East in Goldsboro Sunday.
Octavious Dontae Morrell, 21, of 2141 Glenwood Downs Drive, Decatur, Georgia, is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed firearm and possession of marijuana.
A press release said members of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team were patrolling U.S. 70 East in Goldsboro and stopped a car for a traffic infraction.
Deputies reported they smelled a strong odor of marijuana when they approached the car with two people inside.
They searched the car and reportedly found a stolen firearm on Morrell and marijuana inside the car.
Morrell was given a $15,000 secured bond.
