PIKEVILLE -- The town of Pikeville's Community Appreciation Day will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. at 100 W. School St.
Shearae Robinson, the event's organizer, came up with the idea last summer to bring the community together to enjoy music, food and fireworks.
Entertainment planned for the event includes the Tim Sutton Trio, the Anchormen, Gary Shelton, Gaylon Pope and Sweetwater, Tommy Chase Band, Servant's Heart, CBA Jazz Band and Desiree's Dance Academy.
Also, Iron Man will be on hand with Optimus Prime for the children, and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office will provide a helicopter for a family attraction.
Food will include offerings by the Backyard Bistro and Wildfire Grill, and an assortment of festival food, including cotton candy and more.
Robinson said fireworks will begin at 8:30 p.m. and end around 9 p.m.
"I would love for all the businesses in Pikeville to show their support to all the people that have supported them," she said.
"In turn, we show them we support them. It's community supporting community."
