Deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office search the front yard of 411 Summerlin Dr. while investigating a shooting Monday night.
A man shot in the big toe Monday night is recovering, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said today.
Tyonne Mckinnon, 19, of 411 Summerlin Drive was shot at his house. He was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, Maj. Tom Effler with the sheriff's office said.
"He's doing fine," he said.
The sheriff's office is investigating a report of shots fired into same residence and at several vehicles in the early morning hours of Jan. 18, according to an earlier report.
Investigators are not sure yet whether the two incidents are connected.
Several people were inside the house when they heard gunshots ring out, the report said.
Tristen Melvin, 38, walked into her living room and found several bullet holes in her wall, according to the report.
When deputies arrived on scene they discovered three vehicles belonging to the people inside the house had also been struck by bullets, the report said.
According to the report, Melvin told police she believes her house was targeted because her son, who was in the house at the time of the shooting, has several enemies and that the shooting could be gang related.
Effler said he has no information at this time about the first incident at the house. He said no charges have been filed, but he said the second incident is being investigated.
