The public is asked to attend an open house Sunday at 4 p.m. at Farrell Farms at 200 Gin Road near Goldsboro.
Farrell Farms is a non-profit organization that produces artisan snack products to support the KW Methodist Children's Home in La Paz, Bolivia.
The home serves abandoned, orphaned children in a Christian home. Most of the children have been subject to severe abuse and neglect and the home provides a safe place for them to grow to healthy, responsible adults.
Organizers are seeking volunteers to help in this ministry. Opportunities exist for individuals of all ages. From high school students to retirees looking for additional ways to volunteer, you can find meaningful ways to contribute.
Some of the specific tasks include helping to prepare, label and package the snack products, as well as sell the snacks at local fairs and festivals. Evening and weekend hours are available.
Samples of many of the products will be available at the open house. A few of the snacks that you'll have the chance to sample include honey glazed pecans, maple glazed pecans, praline pecans, sweet and spicy pecans, sea salt and peppercorn peanuts, and many others. The farm will also be introducing its new line of pecan, cashew, and peanut brittle, just in time for Valentine's Day.
Farrell Farms is operated exclusively by volunteers; there are no paid staff and 100 percent of the funds raised support the children in the home.
