Paramedics transported the driver of this Chevrolet Caprice to Wayne Memorial Hospital after a head-on collision with a tractor trailer at the intersection of South Slocumb Street and Westbrook Road this morning. The Goldsboro Police Department said the driver of the car will be cited with an equipment violation. The man said his brakes failed. John Butler, owner of the big rig involved in the wreck, said the truck was loaded with rock being transported by his company, Venture Equipment and Services. Butler said his driver was not injured in the wreck, but that the car must have been going quite fast to have pushed the truck over to the side of the road. The wreck investigation had not been completed by the time of this report.
