Officer B. Elder of the Goldsboro Police Department searches the parking lot for bullet shells at the Pinewood Square shopping center Saturday morning.
What appears to have been a long running dispute Saturday morning erupted into gunfire that left one man with a gunshot wound to his chest..
Police said that Alexander Ricky Shaw, 22, of 405 Cardinal Drive, was shot with a handgun near the southern end of the Pinewood Square shopping center parking lot just before 11 a.m. Saturday.
A warrant has been issued for Linwood Isaiah Grantham, 24, whose last known address is 136 Park Ridge Lane, on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Shaw was taken by Wayne County EMS to Wayne Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Vidant in Greenville where he was to undergo surgery.
Goldsboro Police Major Anthony Carmen said police did not yet know what caliber weapon was used.
It was not a drive-by shooting, but rather the results of a confrontation between the two men, he said. The two men were acquaintances, he added.
Anyone with information about Grantham's whereabouts is asked to call the Goldsboro Police Department at 919-580-4211 or Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.
