Filing starts Tuesday

The candidate filing period for the 2016 primary and general election begins at noon on Tuesday and ends at noon on Monday, Dec. 21.
Voters who go to the polls will need to be ready to furnish an acceptable photo ID. Free IDs are available at DMV offices.
For more information about the IDs visit the N.C. Board of Elections' website, www.ncsbe.gov/ncsbe, or call 1-866-522-4723 for information and help in obtaining the documents necessary to get one of the IDs.
In Wayne County, voters will cast ballots for all seven seats on the county board of commissioners and for the register of deeds office.
Three seats are up on the on the Wayne County Board of Education -- Eddie Radford, at-large; Dwight Cannon, District 2; and Patricia Burden, District 3. The office is nonpartisan.
There are judicial and soil and water conservation district races as well.
All five members of the local state legislative delegation face re-election.
They are Sens. Louis Pate (D7-Republican) and Don Davis (D5-Democrat) and Reps. Jimmy Dixon (D4-Republican), John Bell (D10-Republican) and Larry Bell (D21-Democrat).
On the federal level, Republican Sen. Richard Burr is up for re-election as well as both local House members, George Holding (D13-Republican) and G.K. Butterfield (D1-Democrat).
