Goldsboro police are investigating a weekend break-in at the Carlie C's IGA located at 1805 Wayne Memorial Drive.
An unknown subject broke out the storefront window with a large rock, according to the police report.
Once inside the suspect loaded up with 75 cartons of cigarettes -- a value of $3,750 -- and exited through a rear fire escape.
Maj. Anthony Carmon of the Goldsboro Police Department's investigations division said that neither the registers nor the safes were disturbed, indicating the cigarettes were the perpetrator's intended target.
"It appears that is what they went in for," he said.
The break-in took place at 1:20 a.m. Sunday. According to the report, a Goldsboro police K-9 unit responded when the store alarm sounded, but no suspect was located. No description of the suspect is listed on the report.
The damage to the store window is estimated on the report at $1,000.
Anyone with information regarding the break-in is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255 or text tips to 919-222-4230. Callers can remain anonymous and tips leading to a felony arrest are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
