The Phi Alpha Alpha Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will sponsor its annual Founders and Achievement Celebration Saturday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m. at First African Baptist Church, 803 Harris St.
The observance serves to recognize local citizens who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make this community a better place for everyone, member Donald Faison said.
It is also being held to commemorate the founding of the fraternity on Nov. 17, 1911, on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C.
The speaker for the program will be the Rev. Dr. Staccato Powell, fraternity grand chaplain.
Powell is the pastor of Grace AME Zion Church in Raleigh.
The public is invited to the free event that will include a meal in the church fellowship hall following the ceremony.
