Two men were arrested early Saturday in connection with the murder of 32-year-old Abdullah Ali Whitaker of Goldsboro.

Goldsboro police, with the assistance of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, apprehended Corey Devon Sutton Jr., 17, at 416 Charles St. at around 2 a.m. Saturday without incident and charged him with first-degree murder, according to a press release.

Terrance Lavon Forbes, 18, 302 Olivia Lane, was arrested for first-degree murder at 10 a.m. after turning himself in to Goldsboro police.

Sgt. J.A. Stine of the Goldsboro Police Department said the Wayne County Sheriff's Office Swat Team assisted in the arrest of Sutton because of the gravity of the charge.

"They were called out because it was a murder warrant," Stine said. "It was for officer safety."

Stine said Sutton was not armed at the time of his arrest.

Both men are in Wayne County Jail without bond.

Both will make their first appearance at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Special agents with the State Bureau of Investigation also provided "significant assistance," which led to the arrest of the two suspects, according to the release.

Police found Whitaker dead in his 2010 Buick Enclave in the 200 block of West Spruce Street Tuesday at 12:09 a.m. from an apparent gunshot wound after his vehicle crashed into a parked car.

The shooting happened one block away -- in the 300 block of West Spruce Street.

Whitaker is the eighth homicide victim in the city so far this year.
