DUDLEY -- Tri-County Electric Corp. employees will host their fifth annual Scholarship Golf Tournament Thursday, May 28, with 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. shotgun starts at Southern Wayne Country Club in Mount Olive.
The tourney will benefit the employee-funded scholarship program.
Money raised through this event will be used to award college scholarships to high school seniors. Since 2001, 567 seniors have received scholarships totaling $256,750.
This year's tournament will offer two start times, either morning or afternoon, with breakfast biscuits by McDonald's and lunch catered by McCall's Barbecue for all players.
Team entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration forms should be submitted as soon as possible, but no later than May 21.
The form should include a name and telephone number plus an e-mail address, if possible, for a team contact person. It should also include player handicaps for each player since the teams will be pre-grouped to form flights.
Individual participants will be assigned to a four-player team.
There will be cash prizes for the winners and a drawing for door prizes.
People who are unable to play golf are being asked to consider being a hole sponsor.
"Tri-County Electric's employees appreciate your assistance with this benefit, and believe that it is important to enhance the education of our youth who will be the future leaders of our community," said Mike Davis, Tri-County general manager. "On behalf of the Tri-County Electric employees, we appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you at the tournament."
