A search warrant executed on a residence along Daw Pate Road resulted in the seizure of more than $9,000 in heroin, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office reported Wednesday.
Johnny Bea Artis Jr., 1886 Rosewood Road, is charged with trafficking heroin more than 28 grams and maintaining a dwelling for the sale of a controlled substance. He is being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $150,000 secured bond.
The Goldsboro/Wayne County Interagency Drug Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force continue to investigate drug trafficking in the Goldsboro and Wayne County area.
During the course of that ongoing investigation, information led task force agents to Artis, and it was learned he was in possession of a large amount of heroin, according to a Sheriff's Office press release.
Investigators obtained a search warrant and discovered roughly 60 grams of the drug inside the home.
Artis was taken into custody and charged. He is scheduled to appear in Wayne County District Court Oct. 6.
