Serious injuries after accident

El-Roy firemen along with Wayne County EMS had to use extraction tools to remove the top of a jeep in order to free the driver, Julius Grisette III of Goldsboro, after he was involved in a single vehicle accident on the 500 block of Ditchbank Road Wednesday afternoon. The driver was rushed to Wayne Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. A section of Ditchbank Road was closed to traffic for about an hour while fire and law enforcement cleared the scene.
