Leonard Joyner
Jury selection in the trial of Leonard Joyner -- one of the men charged in the 2012 murder and kidnapping of Kennedy McLaurin Jr. -- is not scheduled to begin until Tuesday, but sources with knowledge of the proceedings said some action could still unfold inside the Wayne County Courthouse this afternoon.
Should any last-minute pre-trial motions be made, it is possible that will happen today.
Joyner is the last remaining suspect in the crime not to take a plea deal -- three others have already pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping in the case.
All three -- Jerome Jilah Butts, Kevin Smith and Curtis Etheridge -- agreed to testify against Joyner as part of their plea agreements.
