Keith Petten Jr., 8, practices during halftime of one of the Aggie Ballers Classic games in the Rosewood High School gym Saturday. The Gold-Wayne Chapter of the North Carolina A&T State University Alumni Association sponsored the basketball event to increase awareness of historically black colleges and universities and to raise money for scholarships. Event organizer Trummonnieo Cooper said, "It is a lot of hard work, but the effort is worth it when you see the excitement on the kids' faces." Schools represented included North Carolina A&T State University, Fayetteville State University, North Carolina Central University, St. Augustine's University, Hampton University and Elizabeth City State University.
