Small Business Award nominees being sought

The Small Business Center of Wayne Community College and Wayne County Chamber of Commerce are seeking nominations for the 2013 Small Business Awards.
Candidates for awards are being sought in the categories of "Small Business of the Year" and "Small Business Startup of the Year."
Nominees for the "Small Business of the Year" Award must have a permanent business location with employees in Wayne County and have been in operation for a minimum of two years. Three awards will be given, for businesses with one to five employees, six to 50 employees, and 51 to 100 employees.
To qualify for "Startup of the Year," nominees must have a location in Wayne County, have been in operation for one to two years, and be a customer of the Small Business Center.
Other criteria specific to each of the awards are detailed on their respective nomination forms.
Forms are available at the offices of the center and the chamber, as well as online at www.waynecc.edu and www.waynecountychamber.com. Nominations must be submitted to the center by Thursday, April 25.
Anyone can nominate a business for an award.
Awards will be presented at a luncheon set for noon on May 22 at Lane Tree Golf Club. Finalists will be announced and winners recognized at the event, which is one of the daily events scheduled for Small Business Week, May 20-24. Tickets for the luncheon are available from the Chamber.
Award recipients will receive credit to use toward course fees at the college and chamber services, plaques for their businesses, inclusion on a permanent plaque at the college, recognition on the college and chamber websites and in local media, and other valuable prizes.
