Goldsboro officials announced Monday that a new building code administrator has been hired, four months after Ed Cianfarra retired after 27 years of service to the city.
His replacement, Allen Anderson Jr., has 19 years with the city himself, and Planning Director Randy Guthrie said that experience was certainly a factor in the decision to promote Anderson to the post.
Anderson was first hired in 1994 as a building inspector and since Cianfarra's retirement, has been filling in as the interim administrator.
"I'm confident in Allen's leadership, and he's done a good job as the interim administrator," Guthrie said.
Guthrie added that the city had received a number of applications for the position and that Anderson was the best candidate they had.
The responsibilities of the building code administrator are to supervise the inspections staff as it works to ensure the city's buildings and properties are in compliance with the proper codes and ordinances.
