Two face charges in rape, robbery

Full SizeAn investigation into a home invasion in Dudley earlier this month led to a pair of arrests late Thursday and early Friday; both suspects are charged with first-degree rape.
Tavares Monderio Allen, 21, of 1802 John Court, and Jay Mark Jackson Jr., 20, of 908 A Hugh St., were among four to five men who forced their way into a residence on Genoa Road after 11 p.m. March 8, according to a press release from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
It was not specified in the release whether the men where armed when they knocked on the victim's door and forced their way in that night, but a gun was stolen from the residence.
While the intruders rifled through the home taking what they wanted, one suspect isolated the resident, a 21-year-old female, in a bedroom and sexually assaulted her.
Another female and a small child were moved from the room they were in and forced into the living room and detained there.
Detective Sgt. Robert Chunn and Detective Sgt. Tammy Mozingo investigated the break-in and assault and, with the assistance of the Wayne County Drug Squad and the State Bureau of Investigation, were able to apprehend Allen Thursday.
He was located in the Royall Avenue area and taken into custody without incident at about 5:30 p.m.
Then, just after 12 a.m. Friday, officers from the Goldsboro Police Department's D-shift and Housing Unit, with help from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, captured Jackson on Hugh Street.
According to the report, the victims were not acquainted with the suspects, but were able to provide "extreme assistance" with the investigation.
More arrests are pending and additional charges might be applied to the pair already in custody.
For now, both Allen and Jackson are charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping, second-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape and larceny of a firearm. Each is being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $1,200,000 secured bond.
"I would like to express my utmost appreciation to the SBI, Goldsboro Police Department and my own detectives and officers for the way they worked together to take these suspects off the street," Sheriff Carey Winders said. "I also want to express my concern for the victims in this case and wish them the best of luck in recovery from what had to be a horrifying experience."
