The Salvation Army's biggest fundraiser will be held Thursday, March 21.
The Women's Auxiliary will have its barbecue meal sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for dine in, take out, drive through or delivery.
The fundraiser started in 1976.
"The women had some other fundraisers with great success, but found out that if they could deal with the industries in the community, there would be more profit made to help the Salvation Army in doing the most good with a lunch time fundraiser,"said Lt. Julie Igleheart, Women's Auxiliary commander.
She said the women wanted to especially cater to the working class people who needed a hot lunch, and decided to start the barbecue luncheon.
Lt. Igleheart said the luncheon has been pretty successful over the past several years, and the goal each year is to sell more dinners than the previous year.
"We hope for another successful event and need the community's continued support," said Lt. Julie Igleheart, Women's Auxiliary commander.
She said the money raised will help the Salvation Army provide programs for the needy of Wayne County.
The cost is $8 per plate. Advance and delivery tickets are available by calling Mary Lou Jones at 919-221-6101 or Nancy Satterfield at 919-922-3413.
"We serve a generous plate of barbecued pork, potato salad, slaw, hushpuppies, dessert and a beverage," Lt. Igleheart said. "We offer dine in seating for a relaxing lunch with great fellowship or drive through lanes for pick up and no waiting. We also offer delivery on order of 10 or more plates."
The Salvation Army building is located at 610 N. William St. For more information, call 919-735-4811.
