Courtney Carter stretches backstage in preparation for her performance with Dance for Christ at the Paramount Theatre Friday night. The troupe celebrates, praises and worships through music and dance. Each performance illustrates a Bible-based story. Dance for Christ will perform again today at 3 p.m.
Now in its 12th year, Dance For Christ is bringing music and dance with a message to the Paramount Theatre.
The event portrays stories of the Bible through dance, and is presented by Artistic Productions Inc. of Goldsboro.
Director Patricia Warren said what people see in Dance For Christ is God's love, not just through the stories that the music and dance tell, but also through sensing the Holy Spirit in the theater during the production.
"When we're all in there together with one purpose -- dancing for God -- he is amongst us," she said. "There's no way you can walk into that theater, sit down and watch this performance and not feel the presence of God and his love wrapped around you."
Mrs. Warren noted that a lot of people will come to see the show before they'll go to church, and this is a good way to introduce them to God.
Dance for Christ will be performed at 3 p.m. today, 7 p.m. March 22, 1:30 and 7 p.m. March 23 and 3 p.m. March 24.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and military for Saturday matinees only. They are available at the Paramount box office, online at www. goldsboroparamount. com or by calling 919-583-8432.
