Four hurt in morning crash

El-Roy firefighters and Wayne County EMS personnel tend to victims of an early-morning crash that left four people injured -- one of them, critically. The accident occurred at the intersection of Ditchbank and Dollard Town roads.
An unidentified woman is clinging to life after an early morning accident at the intersection of Dollard Town and Ditchbank roads.
A Ford F-250 pickup collided with a Toyota Corolla at the crossing just before 7:45 a.m.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the Hispanic woman ejected from the rear driver side seat of the passenger car. She was estimated to be about 20-30 years old.
She was initially pronounced dead at the scene. But minutes later, emergency personnel said they were able to feel a pulse and she, along with the three other passengers, were taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Authorities at the scene said she is not expected to live.
State Highway Patrol Trooper Mike Conley said the Toyota was northbound on Ditchbank Road and did come to a complete stop at the stop sign posted at the intersection of Ditchbank and Dollard Town roads, but the driver did not wait her turn to proceed through the intersection.
"There was a car in front of her, which pulled out ahead and the driver of the Ford said he saw it, and said to himself, 'That was close.' But then she pulled out right behind the first car," Conley said. That resulted in the collision.
The driver of the Toyota, also yet to be identified, will be cited for failure to stop at a stop sign. If the ejected passenger, who was not restrained, should succumb to her injuries, Conley said, the driver might also face charges for death by motor vehicle.
The driver of the Ford was not injured.
