Dudley break-in
While in the process of moving out of a rental property, Jessica Shamone Morrisey, 23, of Dudley discovered she'd been robbed. More than $1,000 worth stolen property was reported when Morrisey returned to the home and found missing a handbag, cell phone, DVD player and other items. Two bullets were also fired through a window. Sheriff's deputies have a description of a man who was heard nearby bragging about committing similar robberies and shooting up houses.
Damage to Piggly Wiggly vending machine
Unknown suspects attempted, yet failed, to pry open a black and white vending machine outside the Piggly Wiggly at 100 Lionel St. The damage was done between close of business Wednesday and opening Thursday. Nothing was taken but the damage to the machine was estimated at $800.
Hole in the wall
A guest at the Irish Inn, 1104 Sunburst Drive, found himself the victim of an unorthodox robbery Thursday. Juan Masa, 29, returned to his room at the Inn at about 11:30 a.m. to find that unknown suspects had knocked a hole in the wall of his room and removed his laptop computer from his dresser drawer. Police processed the crime scene, but the Irish Inn declined when offered a report for the damages.
