PELETIER -- The car driven by a Goldsboro woman who died in a wreck Tuesday in Carteret County was traveling at a high rate of speed, investigators with the state Highway Patrol said.

Lisa Wilson, 52, was killed when her BMW left the roadway in a curve, flipped over and rammed into a house on Old Church Road near Peletier.

She was taken by helicopter to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where she succumbed to her injuries.

According to a report filed by Trooper Jeff Howell, alcohol might have been a factor in the accident. Ms. Wilson was estimated to have been going twice as fast as the posted 45 mph speed limit.

Officials at the Carteret County Highway Patrol Office in Morehead City said that the medical examiner's report that would confirm or deny any role alcohol might have played in the crash could take up to six to eight weeks.

A man working on the house was inside at the time of the crash but was not injured.
