The Wayne County Courthouse has, in effect been evacuated. A mass exodus of employees took place around noon today as all offices were closed and operations suspended until 7 a.m. Monday.
The air conditioning system has failed throughout the entire building. Inmates being held in Wayne County Jail will have to manage as fans have been placed strategically to help them cope with the heat and lack of circulation.
Crews are working to restore the cooling system to operational status but as of yet the situation has not been improved.
