B&E and larcenies

*Three tractors left stationary in a hay field on Carmack Road near N.C. 111 South were damaged by unknown suspects sometime on Wednesday or Thursday, reported Glenwood Davis II. Holes were cut in the rear tire of one of the tractors and on the tire of a hay stacker. A hammer was used to damage the value stem of another. A light and light housing were also damage on the tractor. Davis told authorities he had an idea who committed the destruction to the machines, but was not prepared to offer a name. The total damage to the three machines was reported at $1,900.

*Anastasia Lewis reported the theft of a Hi-Point 9 mm handgun from her home in the 3100 block of Grantham School Road in Mount Olive that occurred between March 31 and April 3. Mrs. Lewis told authorities that she believes the handgun was taken from her purse.

*Donald Best reported the larceny of a $500 air compressor that was taken from the bed of his truck while it was parked at his home in the 1900 block of East New Hope Road on Thursday.

*Short Stop employee Kelly Green reported the theft of a metal grate from behind the gas station and convenience mart, located at 2746 N.C. 117 S. in Dudley, that occurred Thursday. The grate was valued at $200.
