Teen shoots his own leg
A Kenly teen reported to Wayne County sheriff's deputies that he accidentally shot himself in the leg with a .22-caliber pistol Saturday.
James Hargrove, 17, of 2230 Piney Grove Church Road, told deputies that was in his truck and attempting to slowly put the firearm's hammer down when it slipped and fired the round.
Hargrove told deputies he was running dogs at Fox Reserve off of East New Hope when the accident occurred.
Hargrove was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital by a friend and released later in the day.
B&Es and larcenies
*Jalissa Freeman reported the theft of a 50-inch TV and a duffle bag containing clothing from her home in the 120 block of Day Circle between Wednesday and Friday. A screen in the window of the second story of the home had been cut during the incident. The value of the stolen property was reported at $1,800.
*Roderick Gillens reported a break-in at his home in the 2700 block of Bill Francis Drive that occurred Friday. The property stolen during the incident included a $1,000 lap top, $900 TV, $300 XBOX and $375 PlayStation 3. Entry was made by breaking through a rear window.
