Wayne County Special Olympians win team, individual basketball awards

Special Olympics Wayne County recently participated in the Special Olympic North Carolina Eastern Basketball Invitational at various locations throughout Johnston County. Wayne County participated in 5-on-5, 3-on-3 and individual skills competitions.
The Wayne County Warrior 5-on-5 team won the bronze medal. Team members were Miguel Sheffield, Paul Edwards, Jay Zambelli, Moses Bland, Marcus Cox, Jonathan Prather, Reggie Myers, Mark Strickland, Brian Hammonds, Emanuel George and Jesse McCracken. Coaches were Shawn Bingham and Tyrone Campbell.
The Wayne County Flyer 3-on-3 team won the gold medal. Team members were Erica Walderman, Melissa Stanford, Michael Solomon, Jacob Huffman, Robert Benson and Scott Britt. They were coached by Debi Walderman and Heather Monroe.
The Wayne County Eagles 3-on-3 team won the silver medal. Team members were Donnell Knight, Brandon Owens, William Vail, Bobby Willis and Paul Potter. Their coaches were Paulette Williams and Rich Walderman.
In individuals skills, Heather Pardue won a fourth place ribbon and Jonathan Delano won the bronze medal. They were coached by Linda Jordan.
