Copper stolen from Salvation Army a/c unit
Officials at the Salvation Army reported March 16 that more than $300 in damages was inflicted on their facility's air conditioning unit when someone stripped it of its copper wiring.

The Goldsboro Fire Department responded to 34 incidents last week. From March 9 to March 15, firefighters made 13 assists to Wayne County EMS, eight calls to vehicle accidents and four responses to false alarms.
Firefighters of Bravo shift at Station 1, located at 204 S. Center St., responded to a house fire at 110 Vanderbilt Circle on March 11 about 11:15 p.m.
Their reported response time was 6 minutes 6 seconds.
On arrival, firefighters found light smoke coming from the attic space. Firefighters entered the apartment and found heavy smoke on the second floor of the building. A small fire in a closet was extinguished.
An occupant told officials that she attempted to douse the fire with water while 911 was called.
The cause of the fire was listed as undetermined, but a lighter was found in the sink of a nearby bathroom and two candles an occupant said are kept in the bathroom were found in the material that was removed from the closet. A child was listed in the incident report as taking a bath in the bathroom before the fire began.
Firefighters from Bravo shift at Station 1 responded to a fire March 9 about 3 p.m. at a home at 718 E. Walnut St.
Their response time was 4 minutes and 50 seconds.
Firefighters went to the rear of the home and could saw a fire in a pot. No one would come to the door, according to the report, so firefighters forced their way inside. The occupant told officials she put the pot on the stove and fell asleep.
Firefighters of Alpha shift at Station 1 responded to a kitchen fire March 15 about 9 p.m. The fire was located at 620 E. Holly St. The response time was 5 minutes 10 seconds.
The fire was located on the stove and burned the overhead cabinets. The home's occupant told firefighters she was cooking and cleaning and had left the kitchen. When she returned, she found an eye of the stove on fire, could not locate an extinguisher and called the fire department.
