A Dudley man is behind bars after being charged with statutory rape of a 15-year-old girl.
David Amilcar Zometa Osorio, 23, was arrested at his home at 112 Jenny Lane by Wayne County sheriff's deputies following a report of sexual assault filed by the victim's mother last week, Maj. Tom Effler said.
Osorio is in the Wayne County Jail under a $150,000 secured bond.
He is described as a friend of the family and an acquaintance of the victim, Effler said.
The alleged incidents occurred when the girl was 14 and 15 years old.
According to the state's General Statute, "a defendant is guilty of a Class B1 felony if the defendant engages in vaginal intercourse or a sexual act with another person who is 13, 14, or 15 years old and the defendant is at least six years older than the person."
According to the Sheriff's Office, other charges will be sought during grand jury indictments to include indecent liberties with a minor and contributing to a minor.
