Hospital to hold LiveWell Women event

Wayne Memorial Hospital is holding what organizers are calling its biggest LiveWell Women event yet on Tuesday.
Themed "Eat Smart, Laugh Often, Take Heart," the program will run from 6 to 8 p.m. in the hospital dining room.
Among the highlights are a heart-healthy cooking demonstration, a spring 2012 fashion show and comedy.
Participants also will have the opportunity to hear insights from heart attack survivor Janet Walston, receive free health screenings, sample zumba and yoga classes from Goldsboro Family Y, and unwind with a relaxing chair massage.
Donna Peedin, R.N., of Wayne Memorial Hospital's Cardiac Rehabilitation program, will share information about how to regain strength after a heart attack, and Johnny Williams, director of the Hospital Sleep Lab, will discuss how sleep habits can affect the heart.
In addition, local physicians, Waheed Akhtar, M.D.; Catherine R. Cabungcal, M.D.; Meredith Godwin, M.D.; Gregory Nichols, D.O.; Alfred E. Okeke, M.D.; and Randy L. Swackhammer, M.D., will be on hand to talk to people.
Participants can also enter to win a beauty gift basket or a luxury Pinehurst spa getaway, including one night's luxury lodging, a spa treatment, gourmet breakfast and much more.

* Heart Healthy Cooking Demonstration, featuring: Kristi Geer and Laura Nichols, assisted by: Gregory Nichols, D.O., 7 p.m., cafeteria
* Spring 2012 Fashion Show, presented by Belk, 7:30 p.m., main stage.
Health screenings and physician discussions will be ongoing throughout the event.
