Teams are currently being sought to participate in the fourth annual Really Chili Challenge to be held Saturday, Oct. 22 in the Center Street Jam parking lot off Center Street.
The event is the major annual fundraiser for the Community Soup Kitchen of Goldsboro and features the skills of as many as two dozen teams looking to earn the title of Wayne County's top chili chefs.
Prizes are beautiful bowls designed and donated by local potter Randy Wright.
The People's Choice Award goes to the cooking team that collects the most money for the Soup Kitchen.
There will be music at the event by the Daily Blues band.
The event runs from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The tasting fee is $5 per person, with children age 5 and under able to eat for free.
The entry fee is $75. Teams are urged to sign up soon, as space is limited.
Sponsors are also needed for the event.
Entry forms, rules and sponsor information are available at 731-3939 or online at www.communitysoupkitchen.org or by emailing [email protected].
The soup kitchen provided more than 33,000 meals last year for needy Goldsboro and Wayne County residents and is constantly in need of support from the community, especially during tough economic times such as these.
