Power lines down

An SUV struck a power pole on Hare Road and Northgold Drive this morning about 8:20 a.m. The driver, the only occupant of the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, was taken away from the scene by Wayne County EMS with a leg injury. The vehicle hit the power pole head-on causing the pole to break at its base and lean dangerously over an empty grass lot, suspended in the air by the connecting power lines pulled taut. The SUV came to stop in the deep ditch between Hare Road and the power pole. Pinewood Volunteer Fire Department was on the scene directing traffic.
