The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has charged an 18-year-old man with two counts of statutory rape/sexual offense stemming from an alleged relationship with a 13-year-old girl.
John Caleb Tripp of White Oak Road, Goldsboro, turned himself in to authorities this week and is being held in the Wayne County Jail under $50,000 secured bond.
The alleged assaults were reported to the Sheriff's Office by the girl's mother last week.
According to a statement provided to sheriff's investigators by the victim, she and Tripp became acquaintances through another friend and later became involved in a relationship.
