County, city closings set for Thanksgiving

Local, state and federal offices, banks and the U.S. Postal Service will be closed Thursday for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Some also will be closed Friday.
The city of Goldsboro will observe the Thanksgiving holidays on Thursday, Nov. 25, and Friday, Nov. 26. All services scheduled for Nov. 25 will move to Wednesday, Nov. 24. All services scheduled for Friday, Nov. 26, will be moved to Saturday, Nov. 27.
Wayne County offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday with the exception of the landfill and convenience centers. They will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
Waste Industries will be closed Thursday. Collection services normally done on Thursday will be performed on Friday. Services normally performed on Friday will be performed on Saturday.
Federal offices, including the Postal Service, will reopen Friday but state offices will remain closed.
The town of Mount Olive's offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. Trash pickup scheduled for Thursday will be picked up Friday. Customers scheduled for Friday trash pickup will have their trash picked up on Saturday. There will be no service changes for the Christmas and New Year's holidays.
Fremont and Pikeville town halls will be closed Thursday and Friday. The closing will not affect trash pickup in Fremont. Garbage will be picked up on Friday in Pikeville.
The Goldsboro/Wayne Transportation Authority will be closed Thanksgiving Day. Passengers requesting van service for Nov. 26, 27 and 29 must call and schedule transportation no later than 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 23. Office staff will not be available Nov. 26 to process reservations. People requesting van service for Nov. 30 must schedule transportation no later than 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 24. The urban bus system will operate on a holiday schedule on Nov. 26 when they will run from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
